Château Cap Saint-Georges

2° nom de château Cap d'Or
Nestled on an exceptional terroir with ancient origins dating back to the 2nd century AD, Château Cap Saint-George owes its name to the Romans who christened this cadastral plot “Capo Doro” in reference to the perfectly oriented slopes. This southern exposure ensures constant sunshine, allowing for ideal maturation of the berries and pips.
Owned by Jean-Philippe Janoueix since 2014, this 19-hectare estate enjoys a privileged location that contributes to the uniqueness of its wines.
Château Cap Saint-George, a blend of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, embodies the estate’s philosophy: respect for the terroir, precise winemaking, and preservation of the fruit in all its complexity.
Its signature is defined by its minerality, balance, and velvety character. Each vintage is crafted according to “Grand Cru” techniques, aiming for the subtle gradation of flavors, subtly enhanced by masterful oak aging.
The winemaking follows a meticulous approach: manual harvesting, gravity-fed vatting, and fermentation at moderate temperatures (never exceeding 27°C) to extract aromas without excess.
Cap d’Or, the estate’s second wine, represents the feminine version of Cap Saint-George, characterized by its floral and raspberry notes.
