Château Calon
Located on the south-facing slopes of the limestone plateau opposite Saint-Émilion, Château Calon belongs to an estate established in the 18th century by the Boidron family. It consists of a 7-hectare hillside vineyard that benefits from exceptional sunlight exposure and a clay-limestone terroir. Its grape variety composition is marked by a predominance of Merlot (80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). From this varietal composition emerges a wine that is deeply colored, full-bodied, fruity, spicy, and highly aromatic.
At Calon, winemaking follows the traditional methods that have built the reputation of the region’s great wines. The maceration, long and meticulously modulated according to daily tastings, allows for precise extraction of the aromas and tannins necessary for the wine’s balance. The ecological distribution of various indigenous yeast species constitutes one of the natural riches of the terroir and an element of its typicity. It contributes significantly to the character of the wine.
After patient aging for 24 months in oak barrels, bottling is carried out directly at the Château, thus guaranteeing impeccable traceability. The annual production of this wine is limited to 40,000 bottles and reflects a qualitative approach that favors the authentic expression of this exceptional terroir.
