Château Macquin

Château Macquin was established by Albert Macquin in 1884. This agricultural engineer is credited with reconstituting the Saint-Émilion and Libourne vineyards destroyed by phylloxera through the technique of grafting onto American rootstock, which was then spread throughout France.
Macquin is today managed by his great-great-grandchildren. Composed of 31 hectares, made up of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Château Macquin spreads across about fifteen parcels ideally situated in a star pattern around its historic buildings and wine cellar. The parcels are positioned on clay-limestone hillsides. They ideally face the south.
Vineyard, pond, fruit trees, umbrella pines and other species, Château Macquin constitutes a genuine ecosystem. For 10 years, it has been innovating with the Genodics process. This process protects the vine from attacks by wood diseases and other cryptogamic diseases through the diffusion of sound waves called “protéodies” (in quantum physics).
Château Macquin is vinified in a traditional manner in French oak barrels, as well as with the constant support of the most innovative oenological techniques. It offers a perfect balance between innovation, preservation of its exceptional terroir and respect for tradition.
