Château Troquart

In 1999, Jean-Guy Gregoire, CEO of clothing shops in Aquitaine, acquired this 5.5-hectare estate with a south/southwest exposure. His son Etienne, nicknamed the “Wine Rocker” by his British clientele, took over management of the property at just 22 years old.

The estate’s main wine is composed of 70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Malbec. It is aged for 12 months in barrels, of which 15% are new. This wine presents woody aromas, a forthright attack, and good balance. It has aging potential of 10 to 15 years.

Between respect for terroir and oenological innovation, Etienne has developed new cuvées. An age-worthy wine named Cuvée Auguste, in tribute to his great-grandfather. Produced from one hectare of old Merlot vines (averaging 60 years), this wine can be kept for up to 20 years. With his wife Marie, he created the M de Troquart in 2019. Sourced from a 1.91-hectare plot of Merlot in the Montagne Saint-Emilion appellation, this wine is appreciated for its freshness and fruitiness.
