Clos du Pavillon Saint-Georges
An exceptional cuvée created by Nicole Tapon and Jean-Christophe Renaut, Clos du Pavillon Saint-Georges saw its first vintage in 2004. This long-aging wine comes from certified organic farming since 2011, with natural vinification and 15 months of barrel aging. The harvest is done exclusively by hand.
This Clos covers 0.62 hectares of vines aged between 40 and 60 years, grown on a clay-limestone terroir characterized by red clay over exposed limestone. Planted 100% with Merlot Noir, it undergoes a four-week maceration that extracts the full aromatic richness of the grapes.
Tthe Clos is situated at the gates of the prestigious Château Saint-Georges, on an open plateau offering ideal exposure to wind and sun. It faces a washhouse and an 11th-century Romanesque church, adding historical charm to the site.
The wine itself captivates with a perfect balance of dark fruits, fine spices, and subtle oak. On the palate, it reveals a round structure, a rich body, and elegantly smooth tannins, delivering a rich and harmonious experience.
For tasting and visit of the vineyards, it is best to make prior reservation.
The estate’s tasting room is located in the village of Saint-Émilion at 23, rue Guadet and is open almost every day between 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
